The Queensland Development Sailing Team

Denis Cook, Monday, 8 February 2010 The Queensland Development Sailing Team sponsored by Dynamic Satellite Surveys commenced their 2010 training program at the teams first training camp on the 6th - 7th February. The team met at the Yachting Queensland Office building for two days of intense training, and a great deal of brain overload, with all sorts of valuable information. The weekend included multiple on water sessions, theory lectures, a presentation by Sports Physio Sam Madden, information and motivational talks by Olympic Coach Adrian Finglas, and help from the Qld QAS Sailing Team, and Australian Youth Sailing Team members. The QDST is a very competitive group of young sailors already boasting an Australian Youth Olympic representative Madison Kennedy, and an Australian Optimist Team member Klaus Lorenz. Members of the QDST travelled from as far away as Airlie Beach to attend the weekend training camp. This training camp is the first of four Queensland Development Sailing Team Camps and kicks off Yachting Queensland’s new “Queensland Identification & Development Program” which includes an extensive range of training camps that cover the state in an endeavour to provide development camps to junior and youth sailors, and find our next generation of competitive sailors.  For more information on the program or if you feel you would like to be involved please visit the YQ website www.qldyachting.org.au or contact Ben Callard QDST Coach/Manager and Training Officer at YQ.
