Hogs Breath To Sponsor Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous
Hogs Breath Australia have teamed with Abel Point Yacht Club Inc. to become naming rights sponsor of the Annual Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous.
Announced this week, Hog’s Breath Australia and Hogs Breath Café Airlie Beach will provide Abel Point Yacht Club with the necessary funding to run the week long regatta which this year incorporates the Qld Offshore Multihull Championship. Yacht club officials announced (with tongue in cheek) that the “Hog’s Breath Race Week” is still on, just with a slight format change. This year the regatta is a couple of weeks later than previous years and is a multihull only event.
Hogs Breath Australia’s amalgamation with Abel Point Yacht Club has come at a time when the Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous has hit an all time high. The annual Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous is one of Queensland’s premier multihull regattas, and now with the backing of Hog’s Breath Australia and the inclusion of the” Offshore Championship” is virtually assured to become Australia greatest ever multihull regatta.
The “Hogs Breath Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous” which starts on the 26th August through to 1st September has attracted the some of the fastest sailing vessels in Australia. The waters off Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands are sure to create a spectacle with multihulls regularly reaching speeds four or five times faster than monohull yachts of similar lengths.
The week long regatta has organised festivities for competitors and spectators alike. Hog’s Breath Café Airlie Beach as well as the Abel Point Yacht Club will be offering great deals and festivities each day of the event. Included this year is the inaugural Offshore Minigolf Championship to be held at Daydream Island on Tuesday 29th August which is the Layday of the regatta. On the Thursday evening APYC will host a “Homemade Swimwear Competition” with divisions for male and female as well as a teams division.
The 2006 Hogs Breath Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous is set to be a huge regatta, and as always the emphasis is all about fun and comradeship amount fellow yachties.
