IRC Rule 2012, Yachting Australia Prescriptions
IRC Rule 2012, which becomes effective in Australia from the 1st June 2012 through to 31st May 2013, includes the following - Rule 21.6 Spinnakers:
21.6.1(b) A Rule Authority may prescribe that for races under its jurisdiction requiring compliance with ISAF Special Regulations Category 3 or above, a boat may carry one more spinnaker than shown on her current IRC certificate of area not greater than rated SPA without an increase in rating. Any such prescription shall be referenced in a Notice of Race.
Yachting Australia prescribes that in accordance with IRC Rule 21.6.1(b) , in IRC races requiring Category 1, Category 2 or Category 3 Special Regulations compliance, a boat may carry one more spinnaker than shown on her current IRC certificate of area not greater than rated SPA without an increase in rating. Any such prescription shall be referenced in a Notice of Race.
Yachting Australia recommends that Organising Authorities include in the NOR for Cat 1, 2 & 3 events a clause (under the 'Rules' heading where IRC is mentioned or under 'Variation to Rules') such as:
